Empowering those impacted by spinal injury to gain the confidence and skills to return to a full and rewarding life
A person with spinal cord injury has so many challenges to face such as: participating in the community, getting back in to the workforce for the first time, in a new position or in an existing position, learning new skills and taking control of life. With your support, the Sargood Foundation can offer guests the chance to develop new skills, make connections and see the possibilities ahead.
When you donate to the Sargood Foundation you are investing in the lives of people living with spinal cord injury. Your donation will help support a stay for someone with SCI at Sargood on Collaroy which is Australia’s, and possibly the world’s, first health and wellness resort, providing purpose-built accessible accommodation and services. Your support will also help the Foundation to achieve its powerful vision of supporting all people living with spinal cord injury to live a full and rewarding life.
Make a Bequest
When you leave a bequest in your will to the Sargood Foundation, you help us plan our long-term strategy. That includes supplying equipment, facilities, and subsidised stays at Sargood on Collaroy for guests who are all living with life changing spinal cord injuries.
Legacies are crucial to our income; we simply could not do what we do without them and we are so grateful to those donors who remember the Sargood Foundation in their estate planning.
With Every Gift…
- You enable the Sargood Foundation to help individuals and families whose lives have been devastated by spinal cord injury.
- You help the Sargood Foundation to provide people who are living with spinal cord injury opportunities to live life to the fullest. A stay at Sargood helps to build confidence, optimism, and a realisation of what is possible.
- Your support allows the Sargood Foundation to provide essential equipment that enriches the lives of guests and increases their wellbeing.
We work to empower people living with spinal cord injury to achieve greater independence, enhanced self-esteem and increased confidence through the development and provision of sustainable and innovative education and resources, positive experiences and engaged communities.
- How your Bequest makes a Difference
As there is no cure or way to reverse spinal cord damage, our ongoing philosophy is based on improving the quality of life for those people with SCI. With a legacy donation you will help us to plan for the long-term viability of Sargood on Collaroy and continue to work with the people who need it most.
Every day in Australia, someone experiences a spinal cord injury…the effects are absolutely devastating, robbing people of their independence, often shattering their careers and taking away their enjoyment of life. Your bequest will make an unforgettable difference to these people.
Your gift may be used to:
- Provide those aged over 65 who are in financial distress the chance to visit Sargood on Collaroy. This is so important for our older guests as they are often facing an uncertain future and a more precarious financial situation than they may have anticipated.
- Facilitate support for those who receive inadequate insurance or NDIS support – sometimes extending their stay or including much appreciated activities. A break at Sargood can bring together a family that has been through difficult times.
- Help provide travel grants to help those in financial hardship get to Sargood – often NDIS will just cover the cost of the stay and so we can assist with transport costs for guests.
- Offer gym membership to people who live with SCI, so they can use the on-site gym to increase their health and fitness. Gym membership also often provides fellowship and company, as people who are living with spinal cord injury can often experience isolation.
- Help us meet the continual demand for new equipment. This allows us to offer our guests the chance to experience new activities and experiences which are critically important when you spend all day, every day, in a chair..
